Gracie Abrams just revealed details about her relationship with Paul Mescal in a new interview. The "Close to You" singer admitted in a new Vogue interview that when she first fell in love with the Normal People actor, she panicked.

"I was worried feeling secure and stable was threatening my drive to write music," the 26-year-old said. "It freaked me out."

Two years after they first stepped out together, Abrams has made peace with the relationship. Her third studio album Daughter from Hell drops next month, and she has continued writing. Love appears to be fueling her creative output.

The couple's bond deepened during Mescal's work on Hamnet with director Chloé Zhao and Jessie Buckley. Abrams described living with him while he was filming: "every day you come home and read the greatest book ever."

Mescal is actively involved in her music. The Aftersun star bought Abrams a vintage 1960s reel-to-reel recorder and helped her use it. He is now preparing to play Paul McCartney in the upcoming Beatles biopics and has begun jamming with her on guitar. Abrams says he is "so much better than I've ever been" on the instrument.

They are sharing a London apartment that has become a creative hub. Abrams' younger brother August has lived there during his semester abroad, and Mescal wants to bring her dachshund Weenie over from LA, though animal travel restrictions have prevented that so far.

The couple continues to show that love and creativity can coexist.
