Warner Bros. Pictures Animation announced a theatrical strategy shift at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on Monday. Studio president Bill Damaschke said the division is embarking on a bold new theatrical chapter.

"We've been looking forward to this for a long time because 2026 marks the beginning of a new chapter for us," Damaschke told the industry gathering. "This November, we take a big step forward."

The studio's animated feature arm has been recalibrating its theatrical strategy. The November debut is expected to signal this new direction.

Damaschke discussed a slate that includes Bad Fairies, Margie Claus, Oh, the Places You'll Go!, The Cat in the Hat, and The Lunar Chronicles—a mix of original IP and literary adaptations.

The move comes as streamers have acquired significant animated content. Warner Bros. is committing resources to theatrical releases rather than following the industry trend toward streaming platforms.

Damaschke's announcement suggests the studio expects these projects to perform well at the box office. The November release will test whether audiences return to theaters for animated features.
