Al Pacino and Robert De Niro have made headlines for becoming fathers in their eighties. Both men welcomed children late in life, sparking widespread interest in the phenomenon.
Al Pacino, now 86, welcomed his fourth child, son Roman, at 83 with girlfriend Noor Alfallah in June 2023. He was already a father to daughter Julie Marie and twins Anton James and Olivia Rose. "It's very special," Pacino told paparazzi before Roman's arrival. "I've got many kids. But this is really special coming at this time."
Robert De Niro, 82, revealed a month earlier that he had welcomed his seventh child, daughter Gia, at 79 with girlfriend Tiffany Chen. De Niro responded to news of Pacino's fatherhood with support. "He's a few years older than me, God bless him," De Niro said on TODAY in June 2023. "Very happy for him."
Both have discussed the experience publicly. De Niro told AARP in January 2024: "It feels great. Everything that I'm consumed with or worried about just goes away when I look at her. It's wondrous." Pacino told the BBC in October 2024 that he hopes to "be around" for young Roman. "I hope I stay healthy, and he knows who his dad is, of course."
The two actors are among a small group of men who have fathered children in their later years, raising questions about aging, biology, and parental responsibility.
