Boots Riley has shut down hopes for an 'I'm a Virgo' Season 2. As the writer-director prepares to release his sophomore feature this weekend, he's been direct: a Season 2 isn't happening.

When asked about returning to the Emmy-nominated Prime Video series, Riley said "nope" — no explanation required. The 2023 show, which starred Jharrel Jerome as Cootie, a 13-foot-tall Oakland teenager, became a cult favorite for its genre-bending storytelling.

Riley offered a reason for abandoning television. "I think we watch TV too much," he said, suggesting the entertainment landscape might benefit from less content. The filmmaker is moving his focus to cinema.

The shift marks a pivot for Riley. 'I'm a Virgo' was surreal and ambitious television. But Riley appears ready to leave the show behind and work on film instead.

Fans hoping for Cootie's next chapter will need to look elsewhere for Riley's work. His new film arrives this weekend.
