Britney Spears is talking about what she's been through. In her first public comments in over a month, the pop icon discussed her recent rehab stay and the lessons she's learned.
"I'm so damn thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey," Spears wrote in an Instagram post Saturday. "All a blessing in disguise."
The post featured a symbolic snake image, said to represent good health, higher consciousness, and pure luck. It came days after the singer was released from a rehab facility in Camden, Maine, where she spent less than three weeks.
"I still have to learn how to be kind to myself and the way I speak to myself," she added. "It's a never ending journey and sometimes I just stop, look up and say wow God I think that was you and smile on!!!"
The post comes after several developments in Spears's legal situation. Earlier this week, the singer pleaded guilty to a reduced misdemeanor charge of wet reckless following her suspected DUI arrest in March. She avoided jail time and did not face the more serious driving under the influence count she initially faced. She never appeared in court.
Spears also revealed in the post that she and her sons recently made a trip to a pet store, a return to everyday family moments.
Supporters have celebrated her openness about her situation and commitment to healing.
