Chase Stokes is leaving the Outer Banks for the fast lane. The Netflix actor has signed on to star alongside Dennis Quaid in Thunder Road, AMC's new NASCAR drama series created by John Fusco, who developed Marco Polo.

The show wraps filming this summer for a 2027 debut on AMC and AMC+. It follows the multigenerational saga of the fictional Whitlock racing dynasty, combining family drama, high-speed racing, and prestige television.

The timing works well for Stokes. He is currently preparing for the final season of Outer Banks, the Netflix series that made him widely known. With that show ending, a leading role in an AMC prestige drama allows him to demonstrate his range beyond young adult television.

Dennis Quaid, who has experienced a career resurgence in recent years, will anchor the Whitlock legacy. Stokes joining the cast indicates that AMC and Fusco are assembling significant star power.

As Deadline first reported, the deal is finalized. The series is scheduled for 2027.
