Danielle Brooks has landed a starring role in American Comfort, a comedy-drama in development at Apple TV+ from black-ish creator Kenya Barris, Oprah Winfrey, and Aaron Kaplan's Kapital Entertainment, according to Deadline.

Brooks will star and executive produce the project. The series is inspired by restaurateur Melba Wilson and her restaurant business.

The Emmy and Oscar-nominated actress has worked on Peacemaker and Orange Is the New Black. Barris created black-ish and has developed a reputation for character-driven storytelling. Winfrey has backed numerous television projects through her production company.

The project focuses on Black entrepreneurship and family business dynamics within a restaurant setting. No release date or additional cast has been announced.
