Three powerhouses. One explosive thriller. Wunderbar Films has announced the full title and release date for Om.
Om – Chapter 1: Udhiram: The Blood Wood is Dhanush's 55th film. The "Chapter 1" designation suggests the makers are planning a multi-chapter franchise.
The teaser shows jungle ambushes, temple towns, and a rain-soaked confrontation that escalates into action sequences. Dhanush enters mid-chaos, with a crackling fight sequence.
This is Dhanush and director Rajkumar Periasamy's first collaboration. Periasamy recently completed Amaran, which was critically praised. Pairing him with Dhanush for the first time brings significant experience to the project.
Mammootty returns to Tamil cinema with this film, following his reunion with Mohanlal in Patriot. Sai Pallavi reunites with both Periasamy (Amaran) and Dhanush (Maari 2 from 2018). Sreeleela rounds out the cast after her work on a Pawan Kalyan project.
The technical crew includes Sai Abhyankkar on music (fresh off RJ Balaji's Karuppu) and cinematographer Ezhil Arasu. The production appears ambitious in scope.
Dhanush has Kara, Tere Ishq Mein opposite Kriti Sanon, and Kuberaa with Nagarjuna and Rashmika Mandanna in development. Om releases October 16, 2026.
