Flipkart's Minutes service has built a network of 1,000 micro-fulfillment centers, the company announced Wednesday—less than two years after launch. These small, strategically placed warehouses enable minute-speed deliveries across India's quick-commerce sector.
Flipkart plans to expand that network to 1,500 micro-fulfillment centers by year-end 2026, positioning itself as the second-largest player in India's quick-commerce market, behind Blinkit's 2,243 centers.
Amazon is expanding aggressively. The company is rolling out Amazon Now across 15+ cities with over 500 micro-fulfillment centers already operational. Its strategy includes expansion to 100 cities with 1,000+ micro-fulfillment centers and diversification beyond groceries into electronics, apparel, and home products.
Shopping habits are shifting. Flipkart Minutes' head Kunal Gupta said that orders have grown roughly 400% year-over-year, with customer retention jumping 20%. The growth extends beyond groceries—electronics, beauty, and personal care products are driving demand.
Zepto and Swiggy Instamart are also expanding their quick-commerce operations. India has become one of the world's fastest-growing fast-delivery markets, with the sector evolving from a race to deliver essentials into a new shopping category reshaping how millions of Indians purchase goods.
