The Recording Academy announced five new categories for the 69th Grammy Awards ceremony on February 7, 2027. The Grammys are launching five fresh categories—Best Asian Pop Music Performance, Best R&B Collaboration or Duo/Group Performance, Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance, Best Traditional Folk Album, and Best Latin Song.

The new Asian pop category will recognize artists performing music from or widely recognized within Asian markets with meaningful use of one or more Asian languages. The category covers K-Pop, J-Pop, and C-Pop.

The Recording Academy also renamed the existing Best R&B Performance to Best R&B Solo Performance, creating dedicated space for a new Best R&B Collaboration or Duo/Group Performance category.

Grammys CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said in a statement: "2027 is going to be an amazing year for the Grammy Awards, and one that reflects the extraordinary growth we're seeing across music." He added that these changes reflect "the breadth of today's music industry and the many genres, crafts, and creators shaping it."

The Best Latin Song category honors newly-written songs predominantly in Spanish, with at least 51 percent of lyrics in that language. Artists like Bad Bunny and Rosalía now have a designated category at the ceremony.

The Academy also split its folk category into Best Traditional Folk Album and Best Contemporary Folk Album.
