Olivia Jean Markel, a member of the Black Belles, filed for divorce from Jack White on June 3, citing "irreconcilable differences" and "inappropriate marital conduct" in documents obtained by E! News.
The split comes after four years of marriage to the Grammy-winning White Stripes rocker, whose real name is John Anthony White. Her filing states that "Husband is guilty of inappropriate marital conduct, which makes further cohabitation unsafe and improper."
White and Markel married onstage during a 2022 concert at Detroit's Masonic Temple, a venue with deep meaning to them both. They had kept their relationship private throughout their decades-long careers in music.
White explained his reluctance to share personal details on social media during a 2022 appearance on Love & Respect With Killer Mike. "When you put out things that you hold dear and you really love, if you really put them out there, people can just walk all over them and destroy them," the guitarist said, "and then you're left with these crumbled pieces of the things that are so important to you."
The onstage wedding was a rare exception to that privacy. "That day was so beautiful, and the building we were in meant so much to me and my wife that it seemed to be the right moment," White shared at the time.
Markel lists June 3 as the couple's date of separation. She is seeking "adequate and sufficient provision for an equitable division of the parties' assets" in the divorce.
White has not publicly commented on the allegations in his estranged wife's complaint. His representative and Markel's attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
