Two-time Emmy winner Jeff Daniels is joining Oscar winner Brendan Fraser in the cosmic sci-fi thriller Starman, according to Deadline Hollywood.
Daniels will play Ed Watkins, the protective and powerful co-leader of a transformational company he built alongside visionary technologist Tom Adams, the character Fraser is playing.
Emmy-winning filmmaker Josh Wakely is writing and directing the project. Production begins this summer.
The casting reunites two established actors at different points in their careers — Daniels fresh from critical success, Fraser riding a professional resurgence. Wakely's involvement suggests the production aims for something more ambitious than standard genre fare.
