Jimmy Kimmel delivered a sharp takedown of Donald Trump's Washington, D.C. reflecting pool project on a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Trump spent a reported $14 million to repaint the National Mall's reflecting pool American flag blue. Within days, it turned green.
"The project was completed last week," Kimmel explained. "And now, not even a week later, it's already completely green."
The dark blue paint trapped heat in the water, creating conditions for algae growth. The White House began dumping gallons of hydrogen peroxide into the pool — which, as Kimmel noted, "is also how he colors his hair, by the way."
"It's Mexican flag green," Kimmel said. "That's what the White House calls residual algae." He continued: "He owns hotels. If there was one thing he could do, you would think it was keep a pool clean. He can't even get that right."
Kimmel also pointed out the irony of Trump's promise to "drain the swamp." Instead, he spent $14 million building one.
He mocked Fox News's attempt to frame the disaster positively, airing a clip of a reporter claiming "no other president" would clean up the reflecting pool. "That's right," Kimmel responded. "No one. Sorry. Abraham Lincoln wouldn't have done that."
