Karan Deol posted an emotional Father's Day tribute to his father Sunny Deol on June 15, 2026, revealing that the two will share screen space for the first time in Batwara 1947, a Partition drama directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi.

On Instagram, Karan shared stills from the film and discussed what the collaboration means to him. "There are moments that feel destined," he wrote. "Telling Papa once on his set about my dream of acting with him was one of them."

He continued: "I've seen him as a son, a brother, a father, an actor, and a legend loved by millions. But standing beside him on set reminded me that his greatest role is simply being himself; honest, humble, strong, and deeply committed in everything he does."

Karan called Sunny his "biggest teacher," "strongest support," and "my first hero."

Batwara 1947 is presented by Aamir Khan Productions, with A.R. Rahman composing the music and Javed Akhtar penning the lyrics. The film reunites Santoshi and Sunny after nearly three decades.

The film releases worldwide on August 14, 2026—Partition Day. Character posters promise a story centred on courage, innocence, resilience, and sacrifice.
