Karisma Kapoor marked the first death anniversary of her ex-husband Sunjay Kapur with an emotional Instagram tribute, posting a black-background message reading "12/6/2025 Sunjay in our hearts forever" with heart emojis on June 12, according to Bollywood Hungama.
Karisma and Sunjay married in 2003 in a Sikh ceremony at Krishna Raj Bungalow. Their daughter Samaira was born in 2005, followed by son Kiaan in 2010. The couple separated after years of strain, with divorce proceedings beginning in 2014 and finalizing in 2016.
Sunjay remarried model and entrepreneur Priya Sachdev in 2017 and had a son, Azarias. He died on June 12, 2025, at age 53 after collapsing during a polo match in England. Initial reports suggested a bee sting, though underlying heart conditions were later reported.
Samaira and Kiaan have challenged Sunjay's will, which allegedly grants Priya control of his reported ₹30,000 crore estate. Legal disputes over the inheritance remain ongoing. Karisma's public tribute comes despite this legal battle between the families.
Priya also shared a tribute on the anniversary: "A year without you. Still the first thought in the morning and the last thought at night."
