Katy Perry delivered one of the most heartwarming moments of the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony. Ten minutes before kickoff of the USA vs. Paraguay match on Friday, Perry took the field at Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium in a glittering silver dress alongside 10-year-old Norwegian singer Tius Luka.
The duo performed "Wonder" from Perry's seventh studio album 143, surrounded by flags from countries around the world. Luka sang the opening and closing lines while Perry delivered the verses — a collaboration years in the making.
According to Rolling Stone, Perry revealed on social media that she first heard Luka's vocal recording in 2023, when the child was five years old. "I heard his vocal in 2023 and was inspired to write the verses for Wonder and added it to my sixth album," she shared. "Tius is 10 now and flew all the way to LA from Norway to sing this song with me."
Perry lifted Luka into an embrace as the crowd erupted in cheers. Luka recorded his part at age five and performed on one of the world's biggest stages with a major artist.
The performance circulated widely on social media, with fans calling it the feel-good moment the World Cup needed. A 10-year-old's voice inspired a Grammy-winning artist to build an entire song around it.
