Lizzo is done pretending everything's fine. The Grammy-winning artist just got brutally honest about the sting of her latest album Bitch failing to chart on the Billboard 200—a stark contrast to her 2022 smash Special, which debuted at Number Two.

During a candid appearance on podcast Proto Pop with host Zachary Hourihane (aka the Swiftologist), Lizzo didn't hold back when asked how she really felt after the release. "I hurt my own feelings," she admitted. "I was really stressed and I was really sad for a few days."

The 28-year-old explained the source of her pain: "This is some of my best stuff. I want people to find it." But she has accepted a hard truth—the music industry has shifted dramatically in just three years, and so has her relationship with listeners.

"Not only is the music industry different, but also my relationship and my connection musically with the world is different," Lizzo reflected. "That's why I had to mourn that."

The album dropped on June 5 with underwhelming numbers: just 2,649 copies sold in its first week with under 2.7 million on-demand streams. By week two, sales crashed to 650 units.

In 2023, her public perception took a hit when her former backup dancers sued her for sexual harassment, creating a hostile work environment, and fat-shaming allegations that remain unsettled.

"That's why I'm in this studio today," she said. "What are you gonna do? You have to keep going."

Lizzo is focused on moving forward. The artist shows no signs of stopping.
