Marcia Cross shared a rare selfie on Instagram, breaking her usual social media silence. The Desperate Housewives star, who typically uses the platform for career and activism content, posted a candid photo that drew immediate fan attention.
In a May 28 Instagram post, the 64-year-old was smiling from her airplane seat, wearing black-rimmed glasses and a gray bucket hat with the word "peace" on it. "Ok! This flight IS taking off!" she captioned the shot. "See you soon!! #peace."
While Marcia didn't reveal her destination, fans connected the dots quickly. The Desperate Housewives alum was en route to Paris for The Desperate Con on May 30 and 31, reuniting with costars Nicollete Sheridan, James Denton, and Brenda Strong at the fan convention.
Fans responded with enthusiasm. One commenter wrote, "Can't wait to see you Marcia. French people love you," while another said, "Have a safe flight!!! See you there! I'm looking forward to meet you dear Marcia!"
The moment carries extra weight given Marcia's candid remarks about her post-Desperate Housewives career. In 2023, she told Variety that Hollywood has not been kind to older women.
"I am at this funny crossroad: I am this incredibly ripe human and yet Hollywood is not particularly interested," she said. The actor noted that while the industry has made efforts on LGBTQ+ issues and representation for people of color, "we don't love to see older women. We were 40-year-old women doing DH and that was a big deal. Now, I want to see 60-year-old women."
She has also dismissed revival rumors, telling fans in 2021, "News to me!!" when a reboot was rumored. Still, her hopes remain. "I always assumed that after Desperate Housewives there will be a third act," she said. "It has not happened yet."
For now, fans are simply pleased to see their Bree Van de Kamp in Paris for the weekend.
