Marius Borg Høiby, son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been convicted of rape and sentenced to four years in prison, per The Associated Press.

The 29-year-old was found guilty of two out of four rape charges on June 14. He was also convicted of assault and abuse in a close relationship. The victims will receive compensation as ordered by the court.

Høiby pleaded not guilty to all rape allegations but admitted guilt to multiple other charges, including assault, harassment, and property damage. His defense team, led by lawyer Petar Sekulic, confirmed he is "satisfied" with parts of the verdict but plans to appeal the rape convictions and the abuse findings.

Høiby was charged with sexually assaulting four women who were either asleep or unable to resist between 2018 and 2024. The offences involved non-consensual acts with victims described as unable to resist.

Beyond the rape charges, Høiby faced a total of 40 criminal charges—violations of restraining orders and drug-related crimes among them. His arrest came in November after an alleged incident on November 6 at his Skaugum residence in Oslo.

Høiby is the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit from a relationship before her marriage to Crown Prince Haakon. He is not in the line of succession.

His legal team is seeking his temporary release while the appeals process plays out. The crown family has remained silent on the conviction.
