Days after Mika Abdalla and Jake Short announced their split, the former couple is addressing a podcast clip circulating on social media. The 2024 appearance has renewed scrutiny of their relationship.

On The Sit and Chat podcast hosted by Bradley Steven Perry, Jake, 29, was asked to describe his then-girlfriend Mika. He called her "some b--ch." Hosts Bradley and his wife Natasha Bure appeared uncomfortable. Mika responded on the episode: "So she's the best person he knows, the best person he's ever met, and I'm 'some b--ch.'"

Now that the clip has resurfaced online, both stars have issued statements. "We've seen a conversation around clips of us together when we were in a relationship," Jake and Mika said in a joint statement to Us Weekly, "and people making harmful and inaccurate assumptions about our dynamic."

The pair insisted they "were in a loving, respectful relationship for five years" and pushed back on the interpretation. "It's hurtful to see playful moments dissected in a way that does not reflect the respect and love we had and still have for each other," they added.

Jake posted a separate apology on Instagram Stories on June 5. "I made a disrespectful, juvenile joke in a clip that recirculated this week," he wrote. "It's imperative to me that I take accountability as I am aware that it was inappropriate." He said it did not represent who he is or was in the relationship.

Mika's rep confirmed they broke up June 2, days before the podcast clip resurfaced. The couple had gotten engaged in 2025. According to the statement, they are "on friendly terms" and have requested privacy.
