Mike D is mounting his first-ever solo tour this summer, nearly 20 years after the last Beastie Boys concert. It will be a family affair.
The five-date East Coast run kicks off Aug. 30 in Boston, with stops in Washington D.C., Asheville, Atlanta, and one of NYC's boroughs. The tour aligns with the Aug. 28 release of his solo debut, Thank You.
Mike D has assembled a band called 5D that includes his sons Skyler and Davis Diamond, plus Eddie Ruscha, Will Graefe, and Milo Ruscha.
The album opens with What We Got, a psychedelic rocker built around his rap flow. Switch Up is jazzy and laid-back. The closer True Colors combines breakbeats and analog synth before pivoting hard at the end.
Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Eastern on Friday, with presales starting Thursday via the Mike D 5D website.
