Missy Elliott will receive the Amazon Music Visionary Icon Award at Culture Creators' 10th annual awards brunch on Friday, June 26, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
The Culture Creators Foundation and Amazon Music are honoring Elliott's legacy and cultural impact. R&B artist JayDon will deliver a special tribute performance.
"Missy Elliott is the definition of an icon, and her impact continues to inspire artists, executives, creators, and fans across the globe," said Culture Creators founder and CEO Joi Brown. Brown worked alongside Elliott during her Atlantic Records days.
Elliott shares the stage with other honorees: Jermaine Dupri is receiving the Icon Award for Music, Janelle James is being celebrated with the Critics Choice Award, and entertainment legend Suzanne de Passe is receiving Icon recognition spanning Film, TV, and Music. Comedian Druski, fashion icon Bethann Hardison, broadcaster Andrew Hawkins, and media executive Jason Lee are also being honored.
"Amazon Music is incredibly proud to come together with the Culture Creators Foundation to present the Visionary Icon Award to Missy Elliott," said Phylicia Fant, Global Director of BlackMusic and Culture at Amazon Music.
The day includes a beauty and gifting suite, a curated photo exhibition of Culture Creators' 10-year journey, and the public launch of The Next 10, a platform strategy. The brunch serves as a fundraiser for the Culture Creators Foundation's HBCU+ Scholarship Fund, which supports students pursuing careers in media, entertainment, tech, and culture.
Hosted by Xmayo, the event is a cultural celebration for Elliott's achievements.
