Ramesh Taurani broke his silence on the legal dispute threatening Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai — and he's playing it cool.

At the film's trailer launch in Mumbai on May 23, the producer was asked about the ongoing court battle with Vashu Bhagnani, who claims two songs from his 1999 film Biwi No 1 ('Ishq Sona Hai' and 'Chunari Chunari') belong to him, not Tips Films. Taurani's response was measured.

"There's no problem at all," Taurani said. "Hamara jo bhi tha, woh sort hua hai. Aur aage bhi sort ho jaayega. It's a sub-judice matter, hence we are handling it." He is relying on the courts to resolve the dispute and is not expressing public concern.

But the moment turned pointed when Varun Dhawan chimed in with a reference to the dispute. During the event, he launched into a rendition of 'Jeena Laga Hoon' from Ramaiya Vastavaiya — and then asked Taurani with a grin: "Ramesh ji, iss gaane ke rights hai na?"

The room erupted. Taurani laughed, saying "We have all the rights!" while Maniesh Paul added: "Nahin toh phir se aana padega!" (or we'll be back here again).

The trailer launch had been rescheduled — it was originally set for May 21 but cancelled at the last minute. Varun thanked the media and fans for returning, even joking that Ramesh would hand out iPhones as compensation for the Mumbai heat.

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai releases June 5. Whether the rights dispute is resolved by then remains unclear.
