Sir Roger Daltrey is ready for one more lap around America—just not with The Who.

Less than a year after The Who wrapped their North American Farewell Tour, the legendary frontman is embarking on a sprawling solo run called A Great Night Out, kicking off in Arizona this August. He's playing more dates than he did with the band's final tour.

"Well it's one more for the road," Daltrey tells Rolling Stone. "After finishing the Who's final tour of the U.S., it's time for me as a solo artist to possibly do the same."

The 80-year-old icon—knighted last December by Prince William for his fundraising work with Teenage Cancer Trust—is bringing a nine-piece backing band with familiar faces to Who fans. Simon Townshend (Pete's brother), bassist John Hogg, drummer Scott Devours, and percussionist Jody Linscott all toured with The Who. The lineup also includes guitarist Doug Boyle, mandolinist Billy Nicholls, violinist Katie Jacoby, harmonica player Steve Weston, and keyboardist Geraint Watkins.

"After touring solo with different bands of musicians for the last 17 years, a less grueling life becomes more attractive," Daltrey explains. "With my present lineup of nine musicians, I have this opportunity to see your beautiful country and enjoy the hospitality you have shown me over so many years."

Expect deep cuts from The Who's catalog alongside his solo work—"Baba O'Riley," "Who Are You," and rarities like "Love Ain't for Keeping"—plus cover songs.

Presales kick off Wednesday (password: GREATNIGHT), with public tickets dropping Friday at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster. VIP experiences are also available.

The word "possibly" in his description of the tour is what stands out.
