RuPaul is returning to the big screen. According to Deadline Hollywood, the drag icon is headlining a wave of limited releases this weekend.
Maria Bakalova is also in theatres with O Horizon, alongside indie releases including the Cannes premiere Promised Sky, the documentary The Gas Station Attendant, and others opening in select markets.
The restored classics are drawing particular attention. Alejandro González Iñárritu's Amores Perros is getting a 4K restoration from Mubi, and Rialto Pictures is bringing The Third Man back to theatres in restored form.
The specialty circuit is crowded this weekend. RuPaul's return to acting, Bakalova's indie releases, and the restored classics mean art-house theatres will see strong attendance. Limited releases typically move fast.
