Billy Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins are bringing alt-rock, and Chris Stapleton is bringing country to America's Block Party on July 4th at the LA Memorial Coliseum. The event is hosted by Queen Latifah and serves as a massive benefit concert.
The event is being thrown by America250, a nonpartisan organization celebrating the country's 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence signing. The ticket price is $17.76 each, a reference to 1776.
All proceeds after fees go directly to Feeding America through the organization's new Giving 4th initiative, which encourages attendees to pledge charitable donations while celebrating.
Tickets go on sale Tuesday, June 16 at 10 a.m. PT. More performers will be announced in the coming weeks.
"Los Angeles knows how to put on a show, and hosting America's Block Party at the LA Coliseum is going to be something special," Queen Latifah said in a statement. "This is a chance to celebrate a once-in-a-generation milestone with great music, real energy, and a purpose that reaches far beyond the stadium."
A total of 5,000 tickets are being donated to first responders, veterans, and service members. Additional Block Party events are happening at Summerfest in Milwaukee, Fort Campbell Festival in Kentucky, and SC250 Charleston, with Boston and Philadelphia announcements coming soon.
