Tank and the Bangas performed at Republic NOLA recently, bringing their funk energy to a packed room. Frontwoman Tarriona "Tank" Ball and her band took the stage in coordinated neon rainbow outfits, delivering spoken-word poetry and hits like "Quick" to an audience that responded with enthusiasm.

Before the performance, Rolling Stone sat down with Tank about her favorite late-night New Orleans spots. Her recommendations favor understated elegance.

When Tank wants to start her night, she goes to The Chloe, an uptown hotel-restaurant. "They treat me so well there," she says. The touring vocalist favors their smoked pork belly lettuce cups (mint, basil, chili mayo) and the twin-stack burger, which is considered the best burger in town.

For something different, she visits Clesi's Seafood Restaurant in Mid City, where the crawfish draws her back. "I'm obsessed," she says. "The crawfish is so good... So juicy." Tank says she's never been one for dipping sauces, but Clesi's secret dip has changed her mind.

Peak crawfish season runs March through May. Tank recommends the Gulf oysters, crab legs, and boudin balls at Clesi's. "There's really good service," she adds.

Between Netflix binges and voice rest days, Tank lives the New Orleans dining scene fully—and her recommendations are worth following.
