Taylor Swift returned to her country roots at Alan Jackson's Nashville farewell, offering public praise for the man she credits as an influence.

Less than a month after releasing "I Knew It, I Knew You"—her first country song in over a decade—Swift appeared virtually at Alan Jackson's landmark finale show at Nashville's Nissan Stadium on June 27. In a pre-recorded video, she addressed the crowd.

"It's Taylor," she said. "I just want to say thank you for your decades of your incredible songwriting and performances and the way that means so much to us, the fans."

Swift singled out Jackson's song "Drive," which she had covered in 2008 for CMT: Giants. "In that song, you paint such a picture and let us into the details of your life," she said. "I know that was an example that was so good for me to see at a young age, an artist who's really just letting fans into the details of his life."

She closed by thanking Jackson for his "support and encouragement over the years" to her and other artists. "I'm so excited for you doing this show and just appreciate you so much. Love you."

The crowd's reaction remains unclear. Some videos captured cheers and applause, while other fans at the stadium claim Swift was booed. A TikTok posted after the show sparked debate in the comments about what the audience had actually done.

Swift has faced mixed reactions before. She was booed by Philadelphia Eagles fans during the Super Bowl in 2025 while supporting fiancé Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs. She recently told the Songwriters Hall of Fame that "you can't ever orchestrate or force the encounter" with an audience.
