Vikrant Massey just shared an insight into what makes Rajkumar Hirani one of Bollywood's most beloved storytellers — and it's all about the villains.

Ahead of the Pritam And Pedro premiere on JioHotstar (July 3), the actor gave an exclusive observation about collaborating with the filmmaker on the cybercrime comedy-drama. "In Rajkumar Hirani's films, the villain is never a person; it is always the situation," Massey revealed. "You can never truly hate the villain in his films."

The observation goes to the core of Hirani's approach. Rather than painting characters in black and white, the director explores the grey — the circumstances, challenges, and moments of helplessness that push ordinary people into extraordinary (and sometimes questionable) choices.

Massey expanded on the idea: people are rarely inherently wrong. What makes Hirani's work resonate is his refusal to judge. He invites audiences to look beyond actions and understand the emotions, fears, and situations that shape decisions. That is humanising storytelling.

It's the kind of nuanced character work that has made Hirani's films feel timeless and rewatchable. No cardboard cutout villains here, just flawed humans doing their best (or worst) under impossible circumstances.

Pritam And Pedro promises to bring that same layered approach to a cybercrime mystery wrapped in humour and heart. The unlikely duo will navigate intriguing cases while Hirani's philosophy — finding humanity in everyone — guides the narrative.

Massey himself has been vocal about the show's subject matter. He recently confessed to being a victim of cybercrime, with his social media accounts hacked and fraudulent charges hitting his wife's accounts twice.

Only 10 days to go. Mark your calendars.
