Apple announced Thursday that its App Store facilitated over $1.4 trillion in developer billings and sales in 2025, up from $1.3 trillion the previous year. The company emphasizes that 90% of those transactions carried no commission.

Of the $1.4 trillion, $1.1 trillion came from physical goods and services—ride-hailing, grocery delivery, and travel bookings. The remaining $149 billion comprised digital goods, where Apple takes a 15% to 30% commission. That figure rose from $131 billion in the prior year.

AI apps are gaining traction. Forty of the top 100 apps in 2025 featured consumer-facing AI capabilities and showed stronger billing growth than competitors.

The App Store logged over 850 million average weekly users across 175 countries and regions. Growth markets accelerated: China's billings and sales more than doubled over six years, while the U.S. and Europe tripled in the same period.

Apple's in-app advertising revenue reached $151 billion, nearly flat from $150 billion the year prior.

With WWDC next week, insiders expect Apple to announce plans allowing AI agents on the App Store.
