Ariana Grande has objected to the Trump administration's use of her 2024 song Bye in an Immigration and Customs Enforcement TikTok video showing federal agents arresting and handcuffing people. The Grammy winner posted on Thursday after discovering the video.
Grande demanded the administration stop using her music. "Please do not ever use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense," she wrote on the TikTok post, per Reuters. The track has since been removed, though Grande's comment is no longer publicly visible—her spokesperson confirmed to Variety the remark was authentic.
Grande's team is investigating how to remove her music from the video, according to sources who spoke to Reuters and Variety.
White House Press Secretary Abigail Jackson responded with a statement: "We'll say this one last time: what's actually barbaric, inhumane, and heinous are the criminal illegal aliens who have injured and murdered innocent American citizens."
This is the second confrontation between Grande and the administration. In September 2025, the pop star shared an Instagram post by activist Matt Bernstein that criticized Trump's ICE raids and transphobic policies. The post asked Trump supporters: "It's been 250 days. Now that immigrants have been violently torn from their families and communities have been destroyed...has your life gotten better?"
White House Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai responded at the time: "Save your tears, Ariana. Because President Trump's actions ended Joe Biden's inflation crisis and are bringing in trillions in new investment."
The dispute continues, with Grande's supporters backing her position.
