Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill and Ice Cube are officially in talks to return for 24 Jump Street.

Producer Neal H. Moritz confirmed the project on June 10 by posting a photo of the script on Instagram—which reads, "It took so long to make, we had to skip one." The self-aware joke about the missing third film captures Jump Street's tone.

The script, penned by Hill alongside Megan Malloy and director Rodney Rothman, is complete. While original helmers Phil Lord and Chris Miller won't direct, they're stepping up as producers—alongside Hill and Tatum themselves.

This reunion comes after Tatum spent the last two years pushing for it. Back in June 2024, the Magic Mike star told ComicBook.com that a script had been written years ago. "It's still the best script that I've ever read for a third movie," he said.

"I'm going to put some good juju out there and I'm going to say I would love to see 23 Jump Street," Tatum said at the time. "I would love to do it with Jonah, and Jonah, I know, wants to do it. We would love to just get to go play again."

He got his wish—with a twist. That earlier script was a Men in Black crossover that got scrapped in 2014, according to leaked Sony emails. But Hill and Tatum weren't ready to let their characters Jenko and Schmidt disappear.

Hill's own 2014 comment on sequels adds another layer: "Sequels are bigger and crappier than the first ones." The new film, it seems, aims to prove him wrong.

Fans are already anticipating the return. More than a decade has passed since Schmidt and Jenko last went undercover.
