Spring Awakening is getting an Off Broadway revival this fall at Studio Seaview, according to Deadline. The Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik musical will be directed by Tony winner Danya Taymor, fresh off her run with The Outsiders.
Choreography duties go to Celia Rowlson-Hall, the Aftersun actor making her theatrical choreography debut. Producer Seaview will oversee the operation, with Or Matias handling music supervision. Open call auditions are scheduled for July 10 and 11.
Spring Awakening is a rock adaptation of Frank Wedekind's 1891 German play. The musical addresses adolescence through an electric score and tackles themes of sexuality, conformity, and coming of age.
Auditions begin next month.
