Elon Musk's SpaceX has sealed another major AI infrastructure deal.
Reflection AI, an open-source AI lab founded by two former Google DeepMind researchers, will pay $150 million every month starting July 1, 2026, through 2029 for access to Nvidia's latest GB300 AI chips housed in SpaceX's Colossus 2 data center near Memphis, Tennessee. The total commitment is $6.3 billion.
This deal is smaller than Musk's previous arrangements. Anthropic pays $1.25 billion monthly, while Google pays $920 million per month. Both contracts also run through July 2029. Musk has emphasized that either company can walk away with just 90 days' notice after the first quarter.
Musk is no longer simply renting computing power. He is running an AI infrastructure operation on the back of Colossus, which was originally built by his AI company xAI before it was absorbed into SpaceX. As xAI's internal projects have stumbled, Musk converted the data center into a rental operation for the world's top AI labs.
Reflection is positioning the deal as validation of its open-weight AI strategy—a direct challenge to closed-source competitors like OpenAI and Anthropic. The startup is calling the arrangement one of the largest open AI infrastructure commitments announced to date, especially following the U.S. government's ban on Anthropic's closed models Fable and Mythos.
Musk has turned SpaceX into a landlord of Silicon Valley's computing infrastructure, with the tech industry lining up to pay premium prices for access.
