After 13 years since GTA V, Rockstar Games will release Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19, 2026.
The wait has been long. Since 2013, two console generations and multiple presidencies have passed. GTA Online, however, never faded. The game still pulls in over 20 million active users every month, keeping the franchise culturally dominant while players awaited the next instalment.
The game returns to Vice City, the Miami-inspired setting from 2002's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. This version is set in modern day, not the 1980s. That means new characters, new stories, and a different sandbox entirely.
The protagonists are Jason and Lucia. Based on the trailers Rockstar has released, they navigate a world saturated with Florida stereotypes: dual hammer-wielding women, sunburned men in Speedos, spring breakers, and unhinged locals.
Pre-orders went live, and fans are already committed. Despite leaks, the game remains largely unrevealed. After over a decade of waiting, the gaming landscape has shifted with live-service games and seasonal updates becoming standard. GTA VI is positioned as the event game that will draw players back in.
November 19, 2026. Vice City awaits.
