Tom Hardy is releasing his debut rap album, a full-length collaboration with East Coast supergroup Czarface, under his Frankie Pulitzer persona. The project, titled Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer, drops August 28.
Hardy isn't dabbling — he's doubling down on bars. The lead single "Brothers Grimm," released this week, features verses from Czarface's Inspectah Deck and Esoteric before Hardy jumps in with "You coppin lead when I'm droppin it."
Hardy isn't new to hip-hop. In 2011, he revealed he had landed a record deal at 15 in the Nineties, recording unreleased material. "Because I come from a nice middle-class neighborhood it was a very hard sell," Hardy said at the time. "And I wasn't very good."
The Frankie Pulitzer character is a hip-hop identity Hardy has built before, treating rap like another acting role. He's had three decades to develop those skills since his teenage years in the Nineties.
Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer arrives August 28.
