Jimmy Kimmel delivered a monologue about Elon Musk's impending trillionaire status. According to Rolling Stone, the late-night host warned that SpaceX's historic IPO—reportedly launching tomorrow—will catapult Musk into uncharted financial territory.
"This obscenely wealthy weirdo has the ability and means to blow up the moon if he chooses," Kimmel said. SpaceX doesn't even make a profit. Last year alone, the company lost $5 billion.
Kimmel also flagged a concern for ordinary investors. Because SpaceX shares will be so highly valued, millions of people's 401Ks will automatically invest in the company. "Basically, this maneuver could make Elon a trillionaire and your parents Walmart greeters," he said.
The host called out Musk's assertion that people don't need to save for retirement because robots will provide for them.
Kimmel also made a joke about Musk's large family. "We know Elon has a lot of kids, but we can't fathom him getting laid," he said.
He ended with a suggestion: "Wasn't he supposed to be going to Mars? Can't we help chip in to speed that up?"
