The Coen Brothers will be honoured with the Lumière Award at the 18th edition of the Lumière Festival in Lyon, France this October, Deadline reports.
The Lumière Award is one of cinema's most prestigious international honours, given by Thierry Frémaux's festival, which focuses on classic and groundbreaking filmmaking.
From their debut Blood Simple through Raising Arizona, the Coens built a body of work that shaped independent cinema. Their 1991 film Barton Fink won the Palme d'Or at Cannes.
The Lumière Festival celebrates cinema history and craft rather than serving as a typical awards circuit. The brothers have prioritized artistic boundaries over mainstream recognition, making recognition from Lyon significant to their trajectory.
October's ceremony will mark a moment for the Coens to reflect on their collaborative work across crime films, comedies, and literary adaptations.
