Threads is now testing a Meta AI integration that works like X's Grok. Users with public Threads accounts can mention @meta.ai in a post or reply to get instant answers about trending topics, celebrity news, and what the internet is discussing.

The chatbot responds publicly under the @meta.ai account, answering in the language the user posted in. Examples: "Whose Met Gala looks are slaying right now?" "Why are people going feral for the World Cup this month?" "How are the Knicks doing in the playoffs?" All can be answered without leaving the app.

The feature is in beta testing across Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Argentina, and Singapore. Meta says the goal is to keep users chatting about trends and breaking news while getting real-time context, all in one place.

X's Grok has had problematic moments—generating posts praising Hitler among them. Meta says its AI has stronger safeguards. Users who don't want Meta AI replies cluttering their feed can mute @meta.ai, select "Not interested" on any post, or hide replies on their own posts.

Meta plans to gather feedback from the beta before rolling the feature out globally.
