Victor Wembanyama is over it—and he's not afraid to say so.
The San Antonio Spurs center, currently battling through the 2026 NBA Finals against the New York Knicks, has made one thing crystal clear: his height is no longer up for debate. During an October press conference, the French phenom shut down the obsession. "Over the years, it's become a non-subject to me," Wembanyama told reporters. "Because, in my opinion, there's so many more interesting things about me."
He has a point. The guy's got bigger things to focus on—like winning an NBA championship.
But nobody can agree on how tall he is. His official NBA profile lists him at 7-foot-4, but it used to say 7-foot-5. Back in 2023, the Spurs claimed he was 7-foot-3 without shoes. ESPN's Brian Windhorst told Boban Marjanović on NBA Today that Wembanyama was "actually about 7-foot-5" and might even be "approaching 7-foot-7 unofficially."
The numbers don't match—and Wemby knows it.
"Sometimes I'm surprised that it's still a conversation," he said. "The truth is, in my mind, it doesn't really make a difference. I'm taller than anybody else. That's all you need to know."
For the record: he was born January 4, 2004 (making him 22), has an 8-foot wingspan, and allegedly wears a size 20.5 shoe. The 2023 no. 1 overall pick has already established himself as a generational talent, winning Rookie of the Year honors after jumping straight from the French league.
The Spurs face the Knicks in Game 2 of the Finals on June 5 at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC and the ESPN app. After dropping Game 1 (105-95), Wembanyama remains unfazed. "We're gonna have many more chances," he said. "It's a first-to-four series."
