Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor are living proof that second chances can work. The couple detailed their reconciliation in a new podcast appearance.
The Craft actress opened up on The McBride Rewind podcast about how the pandemic became their unexpected relationship turning point. "If there was a silver lining for us during COVID, that was the little gift," Christine, 54, revealed. The couple spent lockdown quarantined together with their kids Ella, 24, and Quinlin, 20.
"Ben and I spent a lot of time just working on us with a therapist," she explained. "We'd log into Zoom and we'd do our therapy sessions and really found the way back." The two got vulnerable and restored their connection.
It wasn't easy. Christine and Ben—who married in 2000 after meeting on the set of Heat Vision and Jack—announced their separation in May 2017. "We were just not on the same page with a lot of things and working so hard to try to make it fit," she shared. "It was very difficult to come to that decision."
But they never actually divorced. When COVID forced the world to pause, Ben and Christine decided to pause and recalibrate too. By 2022, Ben confirmed they'd officially reconciled. "We were separated and got back together and we're happy about that," the Night at the Museum star told Esquire. "It's been really wonderful for all of us."
The couple made their grand Met Gala return together—their first appearance at the event in over a decade. Therapy, time, and a global pandemic brought them back together.
