Bill Camp has joined Melissa McCarthy and Connor Storrie in Turpentine, an indie thriller from Craig Zobel, the director behind HBO's Mare of Easttown and The Penguin. According to Deadline Hollywood, Camp's role remains undisclosed.
Turpentine follows a deadbeat son who schemes to hire his friends to rob his own parents. The script, written by Justin Varava, made the 2024 Black List, an annual rundown of Hollywood's most coveted unproduced screenplays.
McCarthy has built a reputation as one of the most bankable names in cinema. Camp is known for elevating every project he touches. Pairing them with rising talent like Storrie and a director of Zobel's caliber brings considerable weight to the production.
Character details remain undisclosed. Zobel is known for keeping plot specifics private until premiere time.
This is the kind of indie project that festivals target and streaming platforms compete for. With a Black List script, established talent, and a director who has handled both prestige drama and dark comedy, Turpentine has the makings of a significant release.
