Judd Apatow isn't messing around with his new comedy The Comeback King. The producer-director has assembled stand-up and acting talent around leading man Glen Powell for the Universal Pictures project.
According to an exclusive report from Deadline Hollywood, the cast includes comedians Leanne Morgan (Leanne), Kumail Nanjiani, and Atsuko Okatsuka, who recently released Hulu specials Night Thoughts and Father.
Vanessa Bayer (I Love That for You), Tig Notaro (The Morning Show), and Mike Birbiglia also join the ensemble.
Apatow has a track record of working effectively with comedians in both stand-up and scripted formats. Glen Powell leads the film, though the supporting cast is substantial enough to anchor a production on its own.
