Céline Dion is mourning the loss of a musical legend. The Canadian superstar shared a tribute to Peabo Bryson, her "Beauty and the Beast" collaborator who passed away this week at age 75.
"I'm heartbroken to hear that we lost Peabo Bryson today," Dion wrote on Instagram Story. "His incredible voice and his kind spirit embodied the beauty of song and performance."
The pair recorded their duet in 1991. Two years later, their rendition won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals and received nominations for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
What made Bryson special to Dion was his generosity and warmth during those early days of her English-language career. "He was so wonderful and generous to me all those years ago, when we recorded Beauty and the Beast," she revealed. "He made me so comfortable, as I was just learning to sing in English."
Dion called him "a real symbol of the joy that music has brought to my life." Bryson's legacy includes his work as a vocal artist and the mentorship he offered to one of pop music's most distinctive voices.
The Grammy-winning duet remains one of the most beloved movie soundtrack moments.
