Heated Rivalry fans won't have to wait much longer. Creator Jacob Tierney confirmed he is in full writing mode on Season 2 and is pushing to deliver it to viewers as soon as possible.

Tierney made the announcement last night while accepting the Showrunner Award at the Critics Choice Celebration of LGBTQ+ Cinema & Television in Los Angeles. In a pre-recorded speech, he said: "I'm working very hard on Season 2 to get it out to people as soon as possible."

According to Rolling Stone, Tierney previously revealed that filming will begin in August once he completes the scripts.

The new season will adapt Rachel Reid's book The Long Game, which continues the story of hockey rivals Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie). The enemies-to-lovers dynamic between them intensifies.

Tierney has also hinted at expanding beyond the central romance. "We have a whole universe here," he told Deadline last year. "There's loads of other things that we're thinking about and that we're gonna explore and that we're gonna start to take more seriously now that we know that there's an audience for it." The show plans to develop supporting characters and the broader world more fully.

The creator is drawing momentum from Season 1's critical reception and channeling it into Season 2. Though he could not attend the ceremony in person, his commitment to the project was evident.

Fans are counting down to August, when production begins. The show has built a devoted audience, and a second season delivered with this energy could exceed the first's reach.
