Maddox Jolie-Pitt is making it official. According to E! News, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's eldest son has filed court documents to legally drop "Pitt" from his surname, requesting his name be changed to Maddox Chivan Jolie.

The 24-year-old has already been distancing himself from his father's name. Maddox removed "Pitt" from the credits when he worked as an assistant director on his mother's film Couture, with the updated name featured in production notes at the Toronto International Film Festival last September.

This is another chapter in the Jolie-Pitt name-change saga. Younger sister Shiloh filed to legally drop Pitt from her surname on her 18th birthday in May 2024—a request granted in August. Twin sister Vivienne had her name credited as Vivienne Jolie in the 2024 Playbill for The Outsiders musical, while Zahara went by Zahara Marley Jolie during her sorority initiation at Spelman University in 2023.

Middle sibling Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, and the twins Knox and Vivienne, both 17, have all made moves—official or otherwise—to drop their father's surname.

Reps for both Angelina and Brad have yet to publicly comment on Maddox's filing. The high-profile exes have been locked in a years-long legal battle since their 2016 split, with custody and business disputes continuing to dominate headlines. Angelina has previously revealed that none of her children are keen on following their Hollywood-power-couple parents into the spotlight, though several have already worked behind the scenes.
