Peabo Bryson, the R&B singer who performed on Disney's most iconic animated soundtracks, has died at 75. According to Rolling Stone, the Grammy winner passed peacefully at 5:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, following a stroke, surrounded by family and loved ones.

His family released a statement: "While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing how deeply Peabo was loved and how many lives were touched by his voice and his generous spirit."

For generations of Disney fans, Bryson is inseparable from two major duets. In 1993, his performance of "Beauty and the Beast" with Celine Dion earned him a Grammy and became one of the most recognizable songs from the film. A year later, he paired with Regina Belle for "A Whole New World" from Aladdin.

Born April 13, 1951, in Greenville, South Carolina, Bryson spent over five decades in R&B. Hits like "I'm So Into You," "Let the Feeling Flow," and "Tonight I Celebrate My Love" (a 1983 duet album with Roberta Flack) defined his career. He released roughly 20 albums, scored 17 Top 20 R&B hits, and earned three gold certifications. He collaborated with artists including Sam Cooke and Brian McKnight.

The family's statement continued: "His legacy and music will live on for generations to come."
