Move over, streaming giants—there's a major shake-up brewing in indie film financing. According to Deadline, the producers behind two of cinema's most talked-about projects are joining forces to launch a film fund.

Douglas Riggs and Tyler Payne, the producers behind Perfect, are teaming up with Jiarui Guo, who produced the award-circuit darling The Brutalist, to create an indie financing vehicle. Their company, Steak and Rosé, is partnering with Guo's Incandescent Productions.

The fund is launching at the Cannes Film Festival. It aims to finance between five and 10 films a year, with project budgets ranging from $2 million to $25 million.

This budget range is typical for independent cinema: large enough to attract serious talent and production value, but small enough to take creative risks that traditional studios avoid. Think prestige projects that win festival prizes and critical acclaim.

Sources close to the deal suggest the trio is betting on their combined track record to attract capital and filmmaker partnerships. Perfect and The Brutalist have both proven that audiences want bold, auteur-driven storytelling.

Industry insiders are already speculating about which emerging filmmakers might land on their radar first. With this team backing projects, the next generation of awards contenders should begin to take shape.
