Ranbir Kapoor is getting deeply personal about his role in Ramayana—and it goes way beyond the script. In a candid chat with Top Magazine, the actor opened up about how Nitesh Tiwari's mythological epic has transformed him in ways he never anticipated, calling it a "life-defining" experience rather than just a career move.

"I understood it would be something like a career-defining move for me, but it was definitely life-defining," Ranbir revealed. Stepping into Lord Rama's shoes shifted his worldview, from his daily habits to his entire value system.

Ranbir credits the timing of two major life events. His daughter Raha, born in November 2022 to wife Alia Bhatt, and the Ramayana project became intertwined. "Raha made me a better person, and Ramayana wanted me to be a better person for Raha," he said. "Everything was connected."

The actor also spoke about how the film reshaped his understanding of sacrifice, loss, and dharma. "It changed my life. It got me closer to understanding Lord Rama's journey... the way I look at life, the way I look at loss, the way I look at sacrifice, the way I look at Dharma."

Ranbir called himself blessed to be part of such an ambitious cultural project. "I was at the right place at the right time when a film of this magnitude was being made on our truth, on our culture, on our history in the most authentic way," he said.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is one of Indian cinema's biggest productions. The two-part epic stars Ranbir as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. Part One arrives a week before Diwali 2026, with Part Two arriving during Diwali 2027.
