Terry Dubrow has a straightforward piece of parenting advice for other moms and dads navigating conversations about their kids' sexuality: stop overthinking it.

The Botched star and his wife Heather Dubrow, who've been married for 27 years, sat down with E! News to discuss their "rainbow of kids". "Act like there are cameras around and that you're going to be held accountable for the way you act," Terry told fellow parents of LGBTQ+ youth. "That immediately removes all of your preconceived douchiness you might have."

The Real Housewives of Orange County star and her 67-year-old husband are raising four children with different sexual orientations and gender identities: 22-year-old Nick, 19-year-old Max (who came out as bisexual), 19-year-old Kat (who is gay), and 15-year-old Ace (who is transgender).

Terry explained that Heather once remarked on how "unusual" it was to have such a diverse household. His response? "We were chosen for it. That's what we're supposed to do with our platform."

The couple has partnered with organizations like The Trevor Project and GLAAD. Terry, 67, said they moved from Orange County to Beverly Hills because, as he put it, the "rainbow shines brighter up here."

But beyond the activism, it's simply about showing up. Heather shared on a 2024 episode of RHOC that her kids "don't know anything but love and support" and that she's proud they feel "normal."

"If we can change hearts and minds by showing how our version of a normal, supportive family can be, we're in," Terry said. "We try to be role models for these conversations, and that's the platform that Heather and I have been chosen to have."

"It ain't about you, it's about them, and they live in a completely different world than you grew up in," Terry said.
